Kym's Camino...her journey to self

On 1 May 2014 I headed for Spain to walk the Way of Saint James aka Camino de Santiago. I walked approx. 960kms in six weeks and had the experience of a lifetime. This was such a poignant journey I decided to convert my travel blog to a travel book come photo album. If you're interested in having a copy check out this link http://blur.by/1r9cAvi

The DVD Store.....

Kym awoke with the realisation that she had been successful in securing a property that she and her husband loved. They are both excited about moving into this new house and about the prospect of it becoming their new home where family and friends will be welcomed with open arms.

Amongst this excitement though is some trepidation for Kym because it means a move to an area she has never lived before, and sadly no DVD store within walking distance! Okay, so for many people this is no big deal, for Kym however it is. At least twice a month she takes a leisurely stroll to her local DVD store and enjoys the ritual of browsing to select a newly released movie or older ones she's seen before, or not.

She thought about how the little things become the most important things in times of change, whether that change is instigated or not. She knows there are far more pressing issues, and perhaps that's exactly why the little issue of the DVD store remains the focus; it's easier to process than organising a move in 4 weeks from a 40 square house to a 16 to 18 square house.

Oh well, it's time for Kym to stop procrastinating and get off her butt!

The joy is experienced in experiencing the process....

As Kym sat cross-legged on her cushions, back against the wall, listening to Deepak Chopra's Healing Affirmations, the realisation came to her, maybe you could say it was an epiphany.

Back track to this week.....Kym has been listening to a new CD pack from Abraham-Hicks during the week (a Christmas present from her parents), and one of the discussions came from a woman who had submitted an application to participate on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show, and she hadn't heard from them in the two months since she submitted the application, and consequently was not experiencing positive feelings about this. Abraham informed her that if the process of submitting teh application brought her joy, that's all she needs to be concerned with.

This must have been processing in Kym's subconscious mind since hearing it, so this morning, as she sat on her cushions, back against the wall, listening to Deepak Chopra's Healing Affirmations, she realised the significance of this discussion and how it relates to her life right now.

Kym is currently working on two pieces of writing for two different competitions. She has been establishing the intent that she is the winner of these competitions, however she realised that the joy she experiences when she sits down to write her entries is all that matters. Her intent will be answered one way or the other. The other area in her life that Kym realised brings her joy and anticipation is when she purchases Tattslotto tickets. She will only purchase them from two shops because she loves the people who serve her. They converse and joke with her, and Kym always finds her self smiling as she leaves their premises, and importantly, she looks forward to the banter with these people. Of course she would love to win $20 million, that would be awesome; this morning though she realised that it is the process of purchasing the tickets that she brings her joy.

And it is the joy that Kym is experiencing in this moment, as she writes this Blog post, that inspires her to do it, irrespective of how many people read it, or how many people become 'followers'. The joy is in the writing and that's all that matters. As they say in world of community engagement, it's all in the process.

Early morning hues.....

Kym awoke at 5.35am, 10 minutes earlier than she'd programmed herself the night before as she drifted off to sleep. She lay in bed for a few minutes listening to the sounds of early morning....distant traffic, birds, the train, Jeff snoring.... She got out of bed and quietly took her iPod from her bedside drawer and picked up her meditation pillows exiting the room ensuring not to wake up Jeff.

As usual Munch Moo, Kym's psychotic cat, appeared from her hiding place from behind the couch, and smooched Kym as she got comfortable on her meditation cushions. Kym's inner voice indicated that Dr Wayne Dyer's AHH Meditation was the right one to start the day. Twenty-five minutes later as Kym was coming out of her meditation her inner voice went on about going for an early morning walk, so she finally gave in. It was close though because she wasn't going to, feigning no time, have to get ready for work etc etc.

And boy, was Kym happy that she went for that walk; it was absolutely superb with the waning moon's reflection glistening on the pond, and the ducks swimming in the cool morning water; the sun rising above the hills behind her house, and that special morning light that illuminates everything it touches with softness. Beautiful.

Six Degrees of Separation continued...

Well it seems that yesterday's blog post created some interesting discussion so Kym thought that another blog post would be appropriate....

A number of Kym's friends posted comments on Facebook regarding their experiences and as Kym was writing a new blog post for today, another six degrees of separation incident came to her regarding her younger half brother.

Kym doesn't have any contact with Tim, and not that she hasn't attempted over the years. She has called and left messages on their answering machine, sent birthday cards and Christmas cards, and sent invitations to birthday parties, but to no avail. Anyway, a couple of months ago Kym;s Mum told her the following story...

Kym's cousin, Gael, went to the Gold Coast to attend her Grandson's graduation from Year 12. As they were sitting in the audience watching each of the students walk across the stage to receive their 'award' her Grandson walked across the stage with a young man named Tim Neville. Kym's cousin, Gael, was curious about this and new that Kym's Dad had a child, but did not know what his name was, but was now excited to think that this boy could be his son (Kym's father's name was Tim Neville also). So when Gael returned home she rang her sister, Sharon, and asked if she knew, and then Sharon called Kym's Mum (Gael and Sharon's Aunt) to confirm if this boy was in fact their Uncle Tim's son. It turned out that Vitha, Gael's grandson, is close friends with Tim, Kym's half brother.

So Kym decided to contact Tim through Facebook. When she did a search using his name she was unable to locate him, but then she had the brainwave to find Vitha through Gael's Facebook site and find Vitha's Facebook site which consequently had Tim as a friend, so Kym invited him to be her Facebook friend and he accepted. He is also friends with Kym's children, Jordan and Katherine.

Kym is confident that she will now be able to have some form of contact with him and is looking forward to connecting with him.

Six Degrees of Separation.....

Kym pondered the concept of 'six degrees of separation'. Recently she discovered that her new neighbour is a relative. As they chatted trying to work out the relationship it was revealed that they share the same Great Grandparents and that their grandfathers were brothers (Kym's the 4th eldest of 17 kids and Jacki's the youngest). What a small world! It then unfolded that Jacki's father, Kym's Mum's cousin, lives a couple of streets behind Kym.

It just goes to show that we are all connected and you just never know who you're talking to, staring at, working with, sitting next to on a train, standing behind in a queue, thinking rude thoughts about, etc etc......

In the light of morning....

Kym awoke from a dream where upon waking its meaning became apparent immediately, you know when you are in that lucid state? It was 5.55am. She lay in bed listening to her husband's gentle breathing, a relief from his usual snoring, and enjoyed the sounds and light of the early morning as it dawned on this brand new day.

She carefully got out of bed, so as not to wake her husband, not for his needs but for her own selfish needs; she wanted to meditate, which she normally does in their bedroom, but because he was still sleeping she was going to do it in her other spot in her favourite room near the kitchen. She put on her Peter Alexander PJs with bright love harts all over them and gathered her meditation pillows, diary, her two books 'Simple Abundance' and 'Three Magic Words' and carefully opened her bedside drawer to retrieve her iPod.

Kym loves to meditate in her favourite room in the house. The morning light is just right and her position under the window allows her to look out into the garden as she prepares herself for meditating, and her cat Munchy Moo always comes to lay next to her as the meditation progresses (Munchy Moo is a neurotic animal and the meditation soothes her). Deepak Chopra's Healing Affirmations was this morning's choice.

After her meditation, and feeling very relaxed and centred, Kym read a meditation from 'Three Magic Words' to complete the process. Time for a cup of tea! As she sipped her cup of tea while sitting at the kitchen table, Kym gazed out of her kitchen window at the back garden. She loves how each morning's different light creates variations in texture and perspective.

As she read today's 'Simple Abundance' message she realised that since reducing the number of work days in the office from 5 to 3 her physical, mental and emotional well being had significantly improved, even in the short time of two weeks. This is how life is meant to be; doing what makes you feel joy and bliss. Kym feels much more grounded, relaxed and centred, just like she did 2 years ago and it is a wonderful state to be in.
